BUILDING CLIMATE RESILIENCE FOR THE URBAN POOR (BCRUP)
BCRUP initiative was conceived as a critical response to the escalating climate crisis and its disproportionate impact on vulnerable urban populations in the Global South.
It was established by a 2019 UN mandate, as a vital global climate action program. It seeks to significantly scale up efforts to limit global temperature rise in line with the: Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C goal’.
Mission
To strengthen the climate resilience of the urban poor by promoting people-centered, inclusive, and sustainable urban development through climate-responsive planning, resilient infrastructure, capacity building, partnerships, and access to climate finance.
Vision
To achieve inclusive, safe, and climate-resilient cities where the urban poor are empowered to withstand, adapt to, and recover from climate-related shocks and stresses, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and improved quality of life.
Our Services
The De-Risking, Inclusion and Value Enhancement (DRIVE) of Pastoral Economies is a Government of Kenya financial intervention project whose aim is to protect pastoral economies against drought risk, increase financial inclusion of pastoralists and better connect them to markets.
