Issuance of Permanent Residence in Kenya is regulated by section 37, 38, and 39 of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011.

The following persons, their children and spouses may apply online through the eFNS portal for grant of permanent residence status in Kenya-

1. persons who were citizens by birth but have renounced Kenya citizenship status and are not permitted to hold dual citizenship by the laws of the countries of their newly acquired citizenship/domicile;
2. persons holding work permits for at least seven (7) years and have been continuously resident in Kenya for three (3) years preceding making of the application;
3. children of citizens who are born outside Kenya and have acquired citizenship of the domicile; and
4. the spouses of Kenyan citizen married for at least three (3) years.
