Lawful residents who have held work permits for a minimum of seven (7) years and have been resident in Kenya continuously for three (3) years preceding the application are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence. 

Applicants must demonstrate a strong position to make tangible contribution to socio-economic development of the country. In this framework, applicants are required to appear in person for interview to confirm or verify these facts.

Note: Once permanent residence is issued to the principal applicant, their spouse(s) and children are eligible to apply individually for permanent residence on the eFNS Portal: https://fns.immigration.go.ke

• Online application done on https://fns.immigration.go.ke, print out forms, online payment acknowledgment for processing fee of Kshs 50,000 (Non-Refundable)
• 2 current passport size photos
• Copies of all permits issued in Kenya
• Copy of valid passport
• Good conduct certificate
• Copy of valid tax compliance certificate
• Copy of valid foreigner certificate (Alien card)
• Cover letter addressed to the Director General of Immigration Services requesting for Permanent Residency.
• Once approved there is a requisite fee of 750,000.

Requirements (for spouse of PR holder)

• Online application done on https://fns.immigration.go.ke, printout forms, online payment acknowledgment for processing fee of Kshs 50,000 (Non-Refundable)
• 2 current passport size photos
• Copies of all permits or Dependent pass issued in Kenya
• Copy of valid passports of applicant and spouse
• Copy of marriage certificate
• Copy of joint affidavit of marriage if marriage solemnized out of Kenya
• Good conduct certificate
• Copy of valid tax compliance certificate
• Copy of valid foreigner certificate (Alien card)
• Application letter by the spouse
• Once approved there is a requisite fee of Kshs.750,000.

Requirements (for child of PR holder)

• Online application done on https://fns.immigration.go.ke, print out forms, online payment acknowledgment for processing fee of Kshs50,000. (Non-Refundable)
• 2 Recent passport size photographs
• Copy of Dependent pass issued in Kenya
• Copy of student pass
• Copy of valid passports of applicant and parent (PR holder)
• Copy of birth certificate
• Application letter by the parent (PR holder)
• Once approved there is a requisite fee of 750,000
