Its core mandate includes:

Investments

• Implement investment policies and strategies.
• Promote investment opportunities locally and globally.
• Coordinate private sector growth and reforms to improve the business climate.
• Drive automation, regulatory reforms, and ease of doing business.
• Monitor business environment improvements in line with global benchmarks.
• Promote local content through "Buy Kenya, Build Kenya.

Trade

• Implement trade policies and promote exports and e-commerce.
• Lead trade negotiations and advisory services.
• Promote regional and international trade integration (COMESA, AfCFTA, WTO, etc.).
• Enforce international trade laws and safeguard local industries.
• Promote fair trade and consumer protection.

Industry

• Implement industrial policy and drive manufacturing growth.
• Coordinate efforts against illicit trade and counterfeits.
• Support industrial zones, SEZs, and value addition in key sectors (textile, leather, agro-processing).
• Oversee quality standards, intellectual property rights, and scrap metal regulation.
• Develop SMEs, promote industrial training, and combat counterfeiting.
