On Monday, Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul CBS , led the distribution of 500,000 high-quality coffee seedlings to 5,000 farmers at Maraba Primary, Aldai, Nandi County, reinforcing the government’s commitment to a thriving agricultural sector. Hosted by County MP Hon. Cynthia Muge, the event brought together key stakeholders dedicated to advancing Kenya’s coffee industry.
The government continues to support farmers through subsidized fertilizers, certified seeds, financial aid from AFC and the Commodities Fund, and improved market access. County collaborations promote agripreneurship, equipping farmers with modern expertise to enhance productivity. Dr. Ronoh Paul also encouraged youth to embrace agriculture, recognizing its vital role in driving economic growth and job creation.
Additionally, the Coffee Research Institutes are playing a crucial role in ensuring superior crop quality, disease resistance, and increased yields. Farmers are also being connected to international markets, boosting Kenya’s position in the global coffee trade. Efforts to streamline value chains, improve post-harvest processing, and enhance cooperative support systems are being prioritized to increase profitability.
Through strategic partnerships, innovation, and unwavering support, Kenya’s coffee sector is set to flourish, fostering economic stability and sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
